The Westminster Shorter Catechism is a wonderful tool for families, individuals, and whole churches to learn sound doctrine. There are a variety of helpful resources for better understanding the WSC. Here are a few of them:
The Westminster Shorter Catechism Project lists the questions and answers and provides links to several commentaries for each question.
Thomas Vincent provided a very helpful study of the catechism in his volume, An Explanation of the Assembly’s Shorter Catechism. His work is one of the commentaries linked in the project, but the whole book may be freely downloaded here or purchased here as a Kindle here or here.
Thomas Watson’s Body of Divinity is a series of sermons on the WSC by a great puritan divine. It is available for free download here, but may be purchased here or here. The Kindle version is only $0.99!
Starr Meade offers a helpful family devotional, Training Hearts, Teaching Minds, based on the WSC. It is available here.
John Whitecross collected a variety of illustrations to help teach and explain the WSC. His book, The Assembly’s shorter catechism: illustrated by appropriate anecdotes, is available as free download here, but may be purchased here.
